The team won their USL Conference Finals matchup by a score of 2-1 against the Charleston Battery on Saturday night.

The Battery threw all numbers forward in the final minutes of the match to grab an equalizer and force extra-time, but the comeback bid fell short as Charleston were unable to record a shot in stoppage time. Rhode Island held on to win, 1-2, and claim the Eastern Conference title.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WPRI) — Rhode Island FC are looking to punch their ticket to the USL Championship Finals. After beating No. 1 overall seed Louisville City FC, the club is headed to South Carolina to take on No. 2 seed Charleston Battery at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Rhode Island FC and Charleston Battery played to a scoreless draw in April and a 1-all finish at Charleston in October.

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. — Rhode Island FC has won the USL Eastern Conference championship. The team, in its inaugural season, clinched its first trophy in club history by defeating Charleston Battery 2-1 on Saturday.

The Rhode Island Football Club will take on the Charleston Battery on Saturday night for a chance to play in the USL Championship game. RIFC beat the Indy Eleven last week 3-2 to move on in the tournament.
