In a bid to tackle worsening air pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has enforced Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi.

Delhi's air quality remains severe, prompting GRAP-III restrictions under which stringent ban will be put in place on construction and demolition activities among others.

A dense fog enveloped Delhi and nearby regions early Saturday (16 November) as the national capital’s air quality index (AQI) remained in the ‘Severe’ category for the fourth straight day. Delhi’s overall AQI was recorded at 404 on Saturday morning, placing it in the ‘Severe’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.

The air quality of the national capital remained in the "severe" category on Saturday morning with the AQI settling at 407 at 9 am, according to the Sameer app that provides hourly updates of the national AQI published by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Starting from 8 am on Friday, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 3 will be in place across Delhi NCR due to 'severe' air quality. This will impose stricter measures to tackle pollution.

The GRAP 3 curbs in Delhi include ban on demolition and construction activities, and entry of certain vehicles inside Delhi-NCR, among other curbs, to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
