WEDDINGTON, N.C. – Officials in Union County are investigating an apparent house explosion that happened Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. It happened around 9 a.m. at a home on Steeple Chase Circle in the Weddington area. First responders were called to the home after receiving multiple reports of a large explosion.

Union County Communications said the call came in around 8:50 a.m. to 240 Steeple Chase Circle in Wesley Chapel.

Several fire departments rushed to a home on Steeple Chase Circle in Weddington in response to reports of a home explosion and house fire on Sunday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

A man and a woman are in the hospital Sunday morning after a house explosion near Weddington, North Carolina. Emergency officials in Union County say that they were called to the home around 9 a.m. after numerous reports of a large explosion.
