NEW YORK — New York City politicians are calling on Whoopi Goldberg to apologize for suggesting on air that a local bakery had declined to make “The View” co-host a batch of desserts for her birthday because of her political beliefs.

Whoopi Goldberg celebrated her 69th birthday on the Nov. 13 episode of “The View,” but the party ended with a rather shocking revelation that a bakery refused to sell the EGOT-winner desserts because of her political beliefs.

Whoopi Goldberg has accused a New York City bakery of refusing to make her a birthday dessert due to her political views.

"I work for a living. If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here," Goldberg said.

On the Wednesday, November 13 episode, the co-host claimed that a Staten Island bakery refused to make her the Charlotte Russe desserts because of her left-leaning political beliefs. Goldberg shared the bold allegation after explaining that the desserts, which she wanted to bring in for everyone at The View, were a tribute to her mother.

The View co-host Sara Haines walked off the show after her colleague Whoopi Goldberg made a particularly raunchy joke. The incident occurred during Wednesday’s (November 13) episode of the program, as Golberg was doing a segment to promote her favorite products.
