While the Minnesota Vikings have flourished under Sam Darnold this season, all signs point to them pivoting off him for J.J. McCarthy sooner rather than later. Although I do not agree with it, I can understand why that appears to be the case for them.

The Minnesota Vikings get another chance to clean up some offensive issues Sunday in their second of two straight road games against the dregs of the AFC South.

Darnold is coming off his worst game of the season. He completed 24-of-38 passes for 241 yards and three interceptions against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones finished the game with 19 touches for 101 combined yards. The Vikings are 3-0 against the AFC South with wins against the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Jaguars.

Sam Darnold signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason as their bridge quarterback to rookie J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy’s second knee surgery to address swelling has at least raised speculation on whether Darnold’s stay could extend into 2025.
