Philadelphia strike: Largest city union prepares for strike as labor tensions continue
Thousands of Philadelphia city workers are preparing to walk off the job, if a new contract isn't reached. More than 9,000 employees, who work in prisons, sanitation and 911 dispatch, realize a strike would create a major impact.
Philadelphia city workers' union votes to authorize strike
AFSCME District Council 33, which represents blue-collar city workers including many of those in the sanitation and water departments, voted this month to authorize a strike. Eighty-seven percent of those who voted were in favor of the strike, according to a post by the union on Facebook.
